The Allure of a New Binder

new binder
A little piece of school supply heaven.

I’ve always been a school supply geek. I was still sick with a bad cold the day my binder arrived, but I celebrated its delivery anyway. I’d spent way too much time choosing it, and I thoroughly washed my hands before touching its coarse blue fabric. A handle! A Velcro pouch for pens! Storage pockets! Two-inch rings! A zipper! It was nerd heaven. I held it up to show my wife and dogs, none of whom were as impressed as I wanted them to be. I held it by its handle and carried it back into the house. I spoke to the fridge, because it’s always a captive audience. “I’m going to write a book in this.”

I love school supplies too! A great pen (although I prefer pencils) makes me happy. I still have the Cross pen/pencil set my mom gave me when I was 13 with my name engraved on it. Grid lined paper is the best. It’s not just for math, I love to make to do lists on it. I could go on and on. I got some dachshund shaped paper clips for Christmas (they weren’t wrapped when they arrived in the mail, so I saw them oops). I think it’s my favorite thing all year. I love your writing. I’m glad I still get to be a small part of your life, even if you don’t usually know it. *hugs* I always knew you were destined for great things.

I’m so glad to know you’re a school supply nerd, too. 🙂 Your Cross set sounds cool. I have a cow-patterned pen that my aunt gave me when I was at ASC and I hope it lasts my lifetime. Thanks for being supportive of me. I miss you so much and hope you move closer east soon!
